Overrated and expensive. They do understand listed buildings, but the quality of their work is poor. Their exterior paintwork peeled off after only a few months, and had to be re-done by someone else. Also lost our house keys, claiming they had been returned. Had to change all our locks for security.
I was recommended this company by my neighbour, and others in the area who tend to prefer using them as they have had a yard in Islington for a long time. We had to have the outside of the house completely restored and decorated, including restoring the old stonework and new stone steps built, and repairing iron railings etc. We also had two rooms redecorated by the team. The work is of a REALLY high standard, and the people who completed it were very pleasant to deal with and kept me fully informed all the way. My only complaints would be that we had a bit of a wait from the time of our quote til the job was done, and was told this was because they are so busy. I would also say that the price quoted was higher than other quotes, but I wanted the work done efficiently and I could see several houses in my road where they had shown what they could do.
Wasted our time. Didn't turn up to an appointment at the house even though sent my father over to meet him said it was due to us having specialist roofers replacing our roof (even though I only requested them to refurbish our two reception floors). I gave an arrogant response when I asked why he failed to let me or my dad know (even though their office is a 2 min walk from the house). Unprofessional and inconsiderate.
A 2 week job took 13 and is still causing problems 5 years on We used Henry Hardy as they are based in the area. This turned out to be a big mistake. The initial works were to include removing a wall, installing a new bathroom and fitting a new boiler system. We were advised the work would take two weeks. It took 13, there were lengthy delays due to Henry Hardy not having suitable, skilled tradesmen. I have written his review as after a boiler service this week, we have found out the installation is incorrect and that the outlet has been plumbed into the wrong piping, this is causing the pipe to corrode and also causing the boiler to suffer airlocks when we use the sink, dishwasher or washing machine. The boiler itself is not the one we specified and by the time we had visited the property and realised, it had been installed, tested and was in use so could not be changed. The boiler is far below the quality we specified. If you are to instruct Henry Hardy, I would recommend ensuring a fixed price is provided for the work and do not pay upfront.
